Raemer Pepper Tribute Fund
RAEMER ENGLAND GARDENER PEPPER passed away in Lethbridge on Sunday, January 2, 2012 at the age of 90 years.
Dad peacefully ended his journey through life at age 90. Ever the ultimate optimist, he will be remembered by family and friends as a true gentleman who considered the needs of others always greater than his own. Though his body became the victim of various ailments, his mind and memory remained clear and quick.
After serving as a flying instructor and pilot officer in WWII, he returned from overseas to complete his education at Queen's University. He moved to Lethbridge to work for London Life Insurance some 40 years, retiring at age 80. His commitment to the community was only surpassed by his love for his wife and family.
He served as President of the JayCees, Kinsmen, Rotary and the Chinook Clubs. He enjoyed his service on the Board of Directors at the Lethbridge College and Lethbridge Housing Authority. Ever a lover of nature, he spent many summer holidays at his cabin near Glacier Park fishing and hiking.
Rae is survived by his wife, Enid (Dowdle), daughter Jodie (Ron) Ortlieb, son Darren (Lei Lian Chen) Pepper. He is the grandfather of 8 grandchildren: Amber, Jason (Russet), Leslie, Ashley Ortlieb, Jesse (Tara), Jordan, Katie (Eric), Zoe Pepper, and great grandfather of Gracie and Hanna Ortlieb.
Dad would like to thank the staff of Lethbridge Home Care, PARP, the Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Therese Villa for their excellent care.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LETHBRIDGE STAKE CENTRE, 2410-28 Street South, Lethbridge. Friends may meet the family prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.
Donations can be made in his honor to the Chinook Regional Hospital Cancer Department.
