Laurie Belsher Tribute Fund
BELSHER, Lawrence (Laurie) Osborne
December 7, 1928 – April 26,2014
Our kind, gentle and much loved husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 85 surrounded by his family. Laurie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Ruth (nee Mueller), his son Calvin Belsher, daughters Karen (Don) Stewart, and Arlene (Andy) Mankowski and 10 cherished grandchildren; Derek, Jeffrey, James, Jillian, Bridget, Megan, Ross, Zachary, Craig and Spencer as well as many, many, many extended family members. Laurie was born in McCord Saskatchewan and was one of 16 children of William and May Belsher. He had a long and successful career but it was no comparison to his love for his family. Laurie was always a gentleman and a gentle man and those that were fortunate enough to know him, loved his humble nature, sincere interest and sharp mind. He spent many holidays camping with his family and travelled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. with his wife, Ruth. When they weren’t travelling you could find him playing golf or volunteering his time to various organizations. Throughout his life, he always had a love of music, whether it was playing or listening to music with his family and friends or playing in his house band at the Rio Vista in Lethbridge. He enjoyed playing pool with his friends and he loved baking bread for his wife. He will be deeply missed.
Special thanks to all the cardiac nurses and doctors at the Calgary Foothills Hospital, Chinook Regional Hospital and the Lethbridge Heart Function Clinic. Their care and compassion has been greatly appreciated over the years.
