SIGMUND “Siggi” KOPP, beloved husband of Diane “DD” Kopp, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the age of 75. He is also survived by his daughter Janet (Martyn) Tyler, sons: Todd (Tracy) Kopp, Stacey (Shannon) Kopp and Troy (Lisa) Kopp; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Siggi was born in Meisterfelde, Germany on December 25, 1940. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1952. 55 years ago, he met and married the love of his life, Diane Lebsack. As a young man, Siggi started his career with CP Rail, where he eventually retired as an Engineer.
Siggi was loved by all who knew him. He was a very easy-going man who loved his family and gardening. The family cherishes treasured moments whether it was him attending one of the many events of theirs, Christmas Eve’s at the Kopp House or having coffee at the kitchen table.
Siggi fought a long battle with his health this past year and never gave up until the very end. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is also survived by his sisters: Eugi Hoenke, Emmy Schafer, Ulla Schafer and by brothers Wilhelm Kopp and Horst Kopp. He is predeceased by his parents Wilhelm and Alvina Kopp, sisters Lotta Harmes and Erika Korner.
A private family memorial will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Siggi’s memory to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre (Chinook Regional Hospital).
Special thank you to Dr. Benke and all of the physicians and nurses at the Chinook Hospital for their wonderful care over the past year; you made the journey much easier.
