Nobuko (Nobbie) Masuda Tribute Fund

MRS. NOBUKO (Nobbie) MASUDA, beloved wife of the late Jin Masuda, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital with her family by her side, on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the age of 80 years. She is the loving mother of Reg (Verna) Masuda of Lethbridge, and Barb (Alan) Grant of Bentley, AB. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Conor Grant of Australia, Cory and Christopher Grant of Bentley, AB; a sister Amy (Alex) Poleschuk of Lethbridge; a brother Suzi (Dorothy) Tomita of Lethbridge; a brother-in-law Aki (Misae) Masuda of Calgary. She is predeceased by her husband, Jin (Jim) Masuda and a granddaughter Courtney Grant. After the evacuation from BC, in 1942, Nobuko and Jim were married on September 6, 1947 in Picture Butte. Upon moving to Lethbridge in 1958, she worked at Sears and Automatic Electric for approximately 25 years. During these years Nobbie and Jim developed and nurtured many lifelong friendships. Nobbie’s greatest enjoyment came from visiting her grandchildren and friends. She was loved and respected for her hospitality, generosity and sincere caring. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at FIRST UNITED CHURCH, 502-13 Street North, Lethbridge, with Rev. Aldeen McKay officiating. In lieu of flowers and koden, memorial donations may be made to the Nobuko Masuda Caring Hearts Fund for the New Radiation Center care of the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, 960-19 Street South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5 (
