Rosie Anne Wilson Tribute Fund

ROSIE (ROSE) ANNE WILSON, beloved wife of the late Ronald J. M. Wilson, passed away with her family at her side on Wednesday March 17th, 2010 at the age of 79 years. Rose was born in Warburg, Alberta and raised in Lethbridge where she attended St. Basil’s School. She later went on to take courses in hairdressing and business, and also worked in Banff and Edmonton before settling in Lethbridge. While working at Wilson’s Grocery, Rose met her future husband Ron. Rose and Ron operated Wilson's Grocery stores for over 25 years until retirement in 1986. They enjoyed many outdoor activities including long walks in the coulees with their dogs and spending time hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing and camping in the mountains. Rose always cherished times spent with her children and grand children. Rose was very active in many volunteer activities including canvassing for charities, leadership in Girl Guides, and especially her involvement at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church as an active member, an Elder and helping with many functions. Rose always kept very busy with paper tole, ceramics and other hobbies. She was an important presence at The Jasmine Room where she tirelessly helped out and was fondly referred to as “Mama Rose”. Her energy and drive was never ending despite her long battle with cancer. Her kind and quiet courage, strength of spirit, and thoughtful and compassionate nature will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her. She will be sadly missed by son Brian (Beverly) Wilson of Calgary; two daughters of Lethbridge, Kathleen Wilson Thomson, and Sandra (Barry) Wellman; two grandchildren Olivia and Benjamin Wellman; sister Ethel Kovacs and brother George (Donna) Hancsicsak also of Lethbridge. She was predeceased by her brother Joe Kovacs of Calgary. The family would like to thank in particular the staff at St. Michael's Palliative Care Unit for the special care given over the past few months. The Funeral Service will be held at ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818-5 Avenue South, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 at 1:00 PM, with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating. A time of fellowship & refreshments will follow. Cremation, with interment to be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Thursday, March 25th, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
