Lorraine Hall Tribute Fund

HALL, Lorraine April 11, 1918 – November 5, 2010 Lorraine Hall (née Speaker), loving wife of Norman W. Hall of Lethbridge lost her long battle with heart disease and passed away in the St. Michael’s Palliative Care unit on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the age of 92 years with her daughter Connie at her side. Lorraine outlived most of her family, was a spirited and joyful lady, a very kind, loving, generous mother who will be dearly missed by her loved ones. Born in north Lethbridge, Lorraine was the eldest child of John and Alice Speaker. She married Norman W. Hall after the Second World War and raised two children—Robert and Connie—while working part-time in food services at Lethbridge establishments such as the Marquis, Erickson’s, and Holiday Inn. Lorraine loved living, being active, had a quick smile and solid advice in any situation. Lorraine passionately enjoyed trying her luck at bingo, ‘pull’ or ‘scratch’ tickets, and playing lotteries later in life, so will be remembered for directing her energy in active support of many charities. Lorraine is survived by her daughter Connie; former son-in-law John Back; grand-daughter Angela Johnson (de Laet); brother-in-law, Robert McKanna (Millicent); and sister-in-law Mavis Hall (David-Bracebridge, Muskoka, ON); as well as cousin Ray Speaker; numerous Kropinak cousins; as well as nieces and nephews (Paul, Helen, Peter, Janet, Karen, Linda, Sandra, Kevin, Carey). She was predeceased by son, Robert Norman; her parents, Alice and John Speaker; brother Edward; sisters, Millicent McKanna (Bob) and Alice Young (Steve); parents-in-law Frank Hosek (Alice), Janet and George Hall (Muskoka/Toronto ON); brothers-in-law Steve Young and David Hall; sister-in-law Marjorie Emond Cole; daughter-in-law Rose de Laet; and nephews Douglas Hall and Gary Young. Cremation will be followed by a Private Family Graveside Service and interment at Mountain View Cemetery in Lethbridge. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to a charity of your choice, or the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation 960-19th St. S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 1W5
