August 11, 2022

More than $1.66 million raised for healthcare services in Southern Alberta since the event’s inception.

The Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation (CRHF) hosted the 25th annual Val Matteotti Italian Open at the Lethbridge Country Club on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022.

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 140 golfers reunited to enjoy a great day of golf, Italian food, prizes, and most importantly giving back. Since the event’s inception, more than $1.66 million has been raised for the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, with all proceeds supporting healthcare services in southern Alberta.

Allan Bartolcic, Executive Director of the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, described the event as a celebration of sportsmanship and community spirit. “We were thrilled to welcome golfers back to one of southern Alberta’s signature summer events. We are deeply grateful for the continued and steadfast support from our generous donors, sponsors, golfers, staff and volunteers who helped make the 25th anniversary event a resounding success!”

About Val Matteotti Italian Open
Now in its 25th year, the Val Matteotti Italian Open was inspired by a unique idea…an appreciation for Italian food, a love for golf, and a belief in the importance of giving back to healthcare in our community. Named after prominent philanthropists Val and Flora Matteotti, the event is known as one of the most distinguished and one-of-a-kind golf tournaments offered in Southern Alberta. To date, it has raised over $1.6 million for the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, supporting state-of-the-art equipment purchases, special projects and programs.
